4th
Street Bistro
Read my review, and discover why the 4th Street
Bistro is my ultimate favorite place to dine! Located at 3065 W.
4th Street. Phone 323-3200 for reservations.
Harrah's
Steak House
A favorite of locals, and three time winner of
the prestigious DiRoNA award. The Creamy Five Onion soup is to die
for! Located in the lower level of Harrah's Reno.
Peppermill's
Romanza
Located inside the Peppermill Resort, this Italian
restaurant is one of the most unique in Reno. Enjoy personalized
music at your table, and the changing "sky" over your head.
A romantic location, and excellent food. Phone 689-7474 for reservations.
LuLou's
Chef Troy Cannan is one of the best in Reno, and
LuLou's is one of the top restaurants because of his natural talent.
You can eat outside in the courtyard during warm weather. Try the
butterscotch pudding, it's absolutely decadent! Located at 1470 S.
Virginia St., call 329-9979 for reservations.
Luciano's
Luciano's has long been one of our most favorite
Italian restaurants. It's small, and you may get to know your neighbors
REALLY well, but the food and service are excellent. Recently I had
the Pork Chops, and they were absolutely wonderful, lightly breaded
and covered in a dark, rich brown sauce. Their bread basket brought
to the table when you are seated has always been a favorite of mine,
along with the Calmari, and I don't even like seafood!
My recommendation? Try Luciano's. The original Luciano's is located
at 719 S. Virginia St., phone 322-7373 for reservations. Another
location has opened up on Lakeside Drive, where the old Einstein's
Cafe used to be. Located at 6135 Lakeside Drive, Suite 145. Phone
828-0400 for reservations. Same menu at both locations.
Cactus
Creek
This surprising little oasis in the Bonanza Casino
consistently surprises. Locals might avoid the Bonanza due to long-held
beliefs that the food wasn't as good as other local casinos, but
NO MORE! Cactus Creek is an upscale restaurant, tucked away in a
back corner of the casino. It's an absolute delight, and the food
is always good, no matter how often we return. They feature Southwestern
cuisine, but with some quirky touches, like Cajun Coconut Prawns,
and Creamy Ham and Cheese Soup. The restaurant itself is cute, cozy,
and just a touch quirky, too. The staff sparkles, and make you feel
so at home you want to go back again.
My recommendation? Try the Steak Diane, it's to die for, as are all
the desserts. When you visit, ask for Karen, and she'll take extremely
good care of you. It's our personal favorite place to celebrate just
about anything!
Roxy
Roxy is another absolutely great restaurant inside
a casino. This one is located inside the Eldorado, always known for
their fine food and wines. Roxy is decorated like a small French
cafe, and the food and service are both superb. Don't miss it if
you're staying in one of the casinos downtown. Call 786-5700 for
reservations.
Liberty
Belle
What can you say about the Liberty Belle? Local's
love it! The food is standard steak-house fare, but the service is
wonderful, and it's part of Reno's history. Enjoy the old slot machine
collection and great prime rib. Ask for Lisa if you like non-smoking,
she's the best!
Peg's
Glorified Ham 'n Eggs
This is our very favorite spot for breakfast in
Reno. Located right downtown, there's plenty of parking on the weekend,
and you can eat outside, if the weather's warm. The portions are
big, so come hungry when you eat at Peg's! They have excellent omelets,
and some Mexican specialties, too. Peg's also serves lunch. Located
at 425 S. Sierra St., call 329-2600 for more information.
